Unlock up to £14,000 for EV charging at your workplace — Act now.

If you're thinking about workplace EV charging, here's the good news: the UK Government is currently footing up to £14,000 of the bill in grant funding - real money, not some vague “green incentive.”

Whether you’re running a fast-growing startup or managing FTSE 100 business, this is your moment. The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is live.

It’s generous. And it won’t last forever.

So: why wait?

What is the Workplace Charging Scheme?

Straight from the source:

The WCS offers funding support for installing up to 40 EV chargepoint sockets across your sites.

It covers:

  • 75% of the total cost, including VAT

  • Up to £350 per socket

  • Open to businesses, charities, public sector orgs

  • That’s a solid incentive to get your infrastructure in place before EV demand makes it non-negotiable.

  • And here's the kicker: the scheme is only confirmed until 31 March 2026. After that? Who knows.

  • EVs are coming. And they’ll want to charge at work.

  • By 2027, over 1 in 5 cars on UK roads will be electric. That means some of your team, clients, or customers will need a plug when they visit or clock in.

  • It’s not a matter of if you’ll need EV chargers - it’s when.

So why not install them now, while the government’s still picking up some of the tab?

How the scheme works (in plain English)

  • Apply online for a voucher

  • Hand it to an OZEV-approved installer (Gov-approved to make sure they know what they are doing)

  • They install your chargers, knock the voucher amount off your invoice

  • They claim the grant, and everyone’s happy

  • Simple. But don’t drag your feet - the voucher’s only valid for 180 days.

Read this before you start applying

Installing a charger isn’t just about bolting a box to a wall. It’s a service - used by real people with different needs.

So before you fill in a single form, ask:

  • Who’s using the chargers?

  • Just employees, or visitors too?

  • When can they charge?

  • Only during working hours? Overnight?

  • Are you charging them to charge?

  • If so, how much?

  • Company cars?

  • Will they get free juice? Will they need a fuel card?

  • Open to the public?

  • Can anyone plug in? What’s the fee?

These questions touch every part of your business: Facilities, HR, Security, Fleet, Finance. Better to get them in a room now than deal with chaos later.
